Howdy! I’m born and raised Texan and damn proud of it! I grew up in a couple of small towns in Central Texas. When I say small, I mean there was a total of 40 students in my high school graduating class. I could not wait to get away from small town life. After high school I moved to College Station, TX to become an Aggie at Texas A&M University. There I met the love of my life and now husband. Upon graduating college, we moved to Houston, TX. I had succeeded in getting as far away from small town life as you could in Texas. And what did I find? I HATED it! All the traffic, all the neighbors, no open land….aaaahhh. After a year and a half, we moved up to north Texas, where my husband is originally from. We lived in a town of about 35,000 people that was close to the Metroplex, but not too close. It had a nice hometown feel. However, we were still in a city. I absolutely loved our neighbors in that town, but I hated the fact that we had any neighbors at all. Our dream was to build a house on the 65 acres of land we inherited in a town of about 10,000. In 2013, that dream finally came true. We are blessed more than we deserve with our little slice of heaven. This blog is about my life, trying to turn this land into a farm, the crazy wonderful people I met around town, and the funny stories along the way. If you’ve ever lived in a small town or wondered what it would be like, stay tuned and enjoy!
